Atikokan Entertainment Series Presents: Union Duke

To wrap-up the 2016-2017 season, the Atikokan Entertainment Series is pleased to present Union Duke, a Toronto folk quintet with an explosive live show.
Union Duke started back in 2005 with three founding members: Matt Warry Smith, Ethan Smith and Jim McDonald. The three of them were known for sneaking away from classes in high school to play and write music together. In 10 years’ time, three members grew to five and a change in musical style led to their third album, Golden Days. The album contained 14 tracks of bluegrass/country tunes which were recorded live from their performances and captures their high energy, great harmony and varied instrument playing.
Bridging soulful Indie rock with bluegrass and country, the members are known to play ukulele and banjo, along with electric and acoustic guitars. The band has described themselves as “Folk-Rock-Country-Bluegrass” in that order.
The band works hard, travelling back and forth across the country playing to fans young and old from coast to coast. They’ve performed at countless festivals including TURF, Mariposa and Summerfolk. Their enthusiasm is infectious and they’ll leave their Atikokan audience smiling, clapping and cheering!
Join the AES for a lively, fun-filled evening on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 7:30 pm at St. Patrick’s School Auditorium – the perfect cap to a fabulous season of live entertainment!
