Atikokan Mud Slingers 4x4 Races

The 2012 Atikokan Mudslingers 4x4 Club MUDFLING EVENT will take place on Saturday, August 11th and Sunday, August 12th.  This year marks the 25th year of the Atikokan Mudfling.  This is a Family Event and we hope to see people of all ages out on the Mudfling weekend.  There will be foodbooths, beer gardens, a sand area for the kids to play, an inflatable castle for kids to play in,  a Velcro Wall to jump on, and  battery operated truck races for the kids (bring your own battery operated vehicles).  ALL kids participating in the battery operated races will receive a prize.  There will be t-shirts for sale marking our 25th year.  Admission into the event is $8.00 (12 and under free).

The 4X4 Mudfling OPENING CEREMONIES will take place on Saturday, August 11th (11:15 a.m).   This, of course, will be done 4x4 Mudslingers style. Don't miss it. Races will begin right after the Opening Ceremonies.  Due to this year’s monumental event, the top FIVE drivers in each class will receive a trophy and the top three will also receive a pay out.  There is also a Bill Bell Memorial Trophy, which will be given to the driver with the fastest reaction time.

This year’s Feature will be TWO  high-performance / blown alcohol mud racers.  We are proud to announce the return of Mike and Jim Lamb, of Iron Range, Minnesota U.S.A. with “Full Throttle”.  We are also very proud to announce, Scott Snarski and Paul Wesinger of Libertyville, Illinois (just outside Chicago) with “Paper Boy Express”. This will be the first appearance in Canada for “Paper Boy Express”.

There is a dance the night of the Mudfling (Saturday, August 11th) with a live band "Sweatin’ Bullets". This will be held at the Errington Hall from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. (Age of Majority). This will be a nice time for the out of town drivers -as well the in town drivers, and visitors to unwind and socialize after a day of fun in the mud. Tickets will be $5 in advance and $8 at the door.   A designated driver will be available at the Mudfling event and at the dance, as our goal is to keep this event safe and trouble free. PLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!

Please go to www.bigtimetrucks.comto check out the classes, rules and regulations.

Camping on site will be RESTRICTED to registered drivers and pit crew only. You must contact us by e-mail at atikokanmudslingers@yahoo.ca or phone   (807) 597-1494 to make these arrangements.  There are public camping facilities available at Bunnel Park, and accommodations at local motels.

This event is growing in size with both the number of trucks and the number of spectators.  We LOVE it!!!  In the last 4 years we have managed to triple the amount of drivers/truck, and spectators.  Last year we had a record breaking 69 drivers, 47 trucks, and over 2000 spectators over the weekend.

Please note we have a Zero Tolerance Policy, and no pets are allowed. We thank you for your co-operation.

We would also like to note:

In September of 2011, we were presented with the Mayor’s Spirit of Atikokan Culture Award for Outstanding Event in Recreation for the Atikokan Mudfling.

The Atikokan Mudfling has made it into 4WDrive Magazine. Available in stores the beginning of May.
