Atikokan Centennial Museum and Historial Park
Large artifacts from lumber and mining sites are on display at the outdoor park, easily accessible by a foot bridge outside the museum. The Heritage Park is also the landing site for Path of the Paddle and the Canadian Trail passes the museum. Paddlers are welcome to leave their gear in the museum while they pick up supplies or use the shelter of the Log Cabin porch to repack.
Steeped in a tradition of outdoor activity, Atikokanites have a paddling history from competitive cross-Quetico paddling between the Unites States/Canada to Canada’s Centennial cross-country races and cross-continent solo paddling.
Complete your visit to Atikokan with a walking tour of Main Street.
Check out the map of the Downtown Atikokan Walking Tour for directions and information on the murals and mining artifacts. The murals were painted by high school art students and local artist Heather Schmutzer as part of the Atikokan Mining Attraction mural project.
Our motto is Celebrating all that we are! Come for a visit and discover all that we are!
