Atikokan Amateur Radio Club

Clubs

President: Warren Paulson, Secretary-Treasurer: Vic Prokopchuk.

The purpose of the Atikokan Amateur Radio Club is to promote and develop amateur radio in Atikokan. Amateur radio is an exciting hobby that offers many modes of communication including handheld radios, digital transmission, world-wide communications, moonbounce, and satellite. It involves technical expertise and experimentation. Largely due to this technical expertise, it involves community service. Amateur radio operators can consistently communicate when no others can. “Hams” offer communications services during emergencies, as well as during community events. The Atikokan Amateur Radio Club is recognized in Atikokan’s Community Emergency Plan and is able to provide communications services for local events.

The club meets monthly during the winter, and conducts training courses to help you earn your Basic licence.
